GARY ROBBINS

  • Join Gary for Friday Night Live between 6-8pm

GARY ROBBINS, who hails from Wesley in Middlesex, started work as a DJ back in 1969. He worked his home counties’ club circuits and as a mobile DJ until he moved to Torquay in 1973.

 

A big name in Soul and Motown at The Hotspot aka The Hideaway and the Compass Club, in ’75 he was discovered by a talent scout from Europe and Scandinavia.
That’s when the fun really began! As a professional DJ, Gary worked internationally and became a big name in the business. Now retired, Gary’s radio presenting career began in 2017 and he joined us here at South Devon Radio in 2023.
Gary has some great industry contacts and his shows on the station are a brilliant springboard for local talent. Soul Survivors broadcasts live onSundays and Friday Night Live puts the soul into your weekend.

CHRISTINE ROCKELL Thursday 1-3pm

  • Born and bred in south west France and love learning (using and teaching!) languages. 

  • - Moved to the UK 25 years ago (so almost English now according to my British husband!)

  • - Love everything health, wellbeing and interiors and helping people to better look after themselves and their space.

  • - Love to travel, as well as chocolate and cake (which are part of my DNA! Again, probably down to the French roots! We just love food! )

  • Born and bred in Essex amd got into radio via a local hospital radio station where I broadcast for a total of 30 years

  • before moving to Devon and getting involved with a local radio station before joining South Devon Radio where I present

  • Pure Gold on Sundays playing tunes from the 50s 60s and 70s.
